We're a family of four in Mt. Kisco with two children who have autism. We're looking for a patient, engaged person to join our household — someone who genuinely enjoys working with kids and can bring calm, structure, and a sense of humor to our daily routines. This is primarily a childcare role with light housekeeping during school hours. Live-in is preferred given the schedule, but we're open to discussing arrangements that work for everyone. The principal has two children ages 7 & 11. One child autism.
Main Work Duties:
Assisting with the kids: The role centers on three high-need windows: mornings (school prep), after school/dinner, and
bedtime.
- Morning routines: getting dressed, breakfast, school preparation.
- After-school supervision and engagement.
- Meal support (Occasional simple meals/snacks, sitting with them during meals).
- Bath time and bedtime routines.
- Keeping them safe, redirecting when needed, and reinforcing positive behavior through consistent, patient interaction.
Household:
- Light cleaning and tidying of common areas, kids bedrooms.
- Kitchen cleaning.
- Occasional basic meal prep for kids and kitchen cleanup.
- Errands as needed.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience with children with autism or developmental disabilities (professional or personal) is welcome but not a requirement.
- Patience and emotional steadiness — not reactive to challenging behavior.
- Willingness to learn and follow through on behavioral strategies.
- Comfortable with hands-on caregiving (bathing, toileting support, dressing).
- Reliable and communicative — if something's off, we want to hear about it.
- A genuine warmth with kids, not just "watching" them but actually connecting.
- Ability to drive is a plus.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ solid years of nanny experience for a private home.
- Live-in experience.
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must speak and be able to communicate well in English.
- Authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
