Position Details: Full-Time, Live-In
Accommodation: The family provides a private, comfortable room on the lower level of the home. The nanny will have access to a bathroom, kitchen, gym, and living room. The nanny may also have access to the family’s cars when they are not in use.
Location: Tenafly, NJ
Schedule: 6 days per week (Preferred Day Off: Wednesday or Thursday)
Hours: Split schedule, generally 7:00 AM–10:00/11:00 AM and 4:00 PM–7:00/8:00 PM
Compensation: $1,200–$1,500 per week
Start Date: June 1, 2026
A warm and active family in Tenafly, NJ is seeking a reliable, energetic, and nurturing Live-In Nanny / Childcare Specialist to care for their two children, ages 4 and 6. This role is best suited for someone who truly loves children, enjoys being part of a family environment, and can provide a balance of warmth, structure, and guidance.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, flexible, comfortable driving, and able to assist with children’s meals, school routines, activities, light household upkeep, and occasional evening babysitting.
Main Work Duties:
Childcare Responsibilities:
- Assist with the children’s morning routine beginning at 7:00 AM.
- Prepare simple breakfasts such as eggs, bagels, pancakes, and similar meals.
- Help children get dressed and ready for school.
- Pack school bags and prepare items needed for the day.
- Drive children to school when needed.
- Pick children up from school and transport them to activities, clubs, and playdates.
- Prepare lunch daily for one child and simple, nutritious dinners for both children.
- Assist with evening routines, including dinner and shower.
- Provide occasional evening babysitting 2–3 times per week when the parents go out.
- Care for the children during sick days or school closures when needed.
- Serve as a positive role model and additional adult authority figure in the home.
Children’s Meal Preparation:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the children.
- Lunch preparation is mainly for one child, as the other has lunch at school.
- Prepare simple, healthy meals such as chicken, rice, pasta, proteins, and similar items.
- Focus on nutritious cooking with limited sugar and salt.
- No cooking is required for the parents.
Light Household Support
- Assist with children’s laundry and general household laundry as needed.
- Make beds and keep the children’s areas tidy.
- Help maintain general order in the home.
- Take out garbage and recycling on scheduled days.
- Water plants as needed.
Pet Care
- Walk the dog approximately 3 times per day for about 10 minutes each walk.
- Feed the fish.
Required Qualities:
- Prior nanny or childcare experience preferred.
- Must love children and enjoy working in a family environment.
- Warm, positive, energetic, and patient.
- Able to provide both affection and structure.
- Comfortable acting as a role model and authority figure for the children.
- Able to drive and comfortable driving children when needed.
- Speaks English at a conversational level or higher.
- Flexible and adaptable as family schedules may change.
- Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy.
- Comfortable with a friendly dog.
- Able to help with light household tasks and children’s meal preparation.

Schedule Details:
The typical workday is a split schedule. The nanny will usually help from approximately 7:00 AM–9:00/10:00 AM, then assist with light household tasks until around 10:00/11:00 AM. After that, the nanny will generally have free time until approximately 4:00 PM, when afternoon childcare responsibilities begin.
Most days total approximately 6 working hours, though flexibility is needed when schedules change, the parents go out, or one of the children is home sick or off from school.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ solid years of nanny experience in a private home.
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must speak and be able to communicate well in English.
- Authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
